Color makes an impact. So do spaces.
The MÜNCHNER STOFF FRÜHLING —and a special design talk on the role of color in interior design.
When Munich transforms into a gathering place for interior decorators, interior designers, and furniture specialists in March, it’s about much more than just trends and materials. More than 130 national and international brands will showcase high-quality home textiles, wallpapers, carpets, color palettes, and upholstered furniture—serving as the foundation for design concepts ranging from classic to experimental.
Color is not just a minor detail.
It influences orientation, atmosphere, behavior, and well-being. Color psychologist Axel Buether explains why color is one of the most effective tools in architecture, interior design, and textiles—and why spaces are never neutral.
Drawing on his many years of research, Buether explains in a clear and practical way how colors affect emotions and social interaction. Using concrete examples from healthcare facilities, workplaces, and public spaces, he highlights the responsibility that comes with color design—especially in the interplay of light, materials, and textiles.
His guiding principle sums it up:
“Color is not just a pretty facade, but a sensory medium that connects us to the world.”
