Abstract

My article shows how color-psychologically designed learning environments as a form of non-verbal pedagogy increase learning motivation, concentration and learning performance by promoting well-being, emotional security and appreciation in everyday school life. Based on biological and cultural-psychological mechanisms, it explains how precisely coordinated color atmospheres support stimulus regulation, orientation, self-regulation and social interaction. A completed school building project demonstrates that evidence-based color design brings about measurable improvements in learning behavior, the social climate and the health stability of students and teachers.
