Color doesn’t just affect perception and behavior – it has a direct impact on our physical and mental well-being. Spaces determine whether we can find our bearings, whether we find peace or come under stress, whether we become healthy or remain burdened.
Despite this effect, color design in the context of buildings and existing buildings is often reduced to design issues – without systematic consideration of its effects on health, orientation and use.
This is precisely where evidence-based color psychology comes in: It combines perceptual psychology, neurobiology and design to create effective color and lighting concepts that measurably improve well-being, performance and user success.

Services
Analysis & risk assessment
- Empirically based analysis of existing color and lighting concepts in buildings and interiors – with regard to orientation, stress and well-being of users.
- Identification of design risks and functional deficits before conversion, refurbishment or new construction – for well-founded decisions in existing buildings and in planning.
- Expert opinions on color and lighting effects for building owners, operators and decision-making processes.
Strategy & conception
- Development of evidence-based color and lighting concepts for new buildings, conversions and existing buildings.
- Systematic design of color atmospheres to promote health, orientation, motivation and safety.
- Target group-specific concepts for different uses – e.g. healthcare buildings, education, working environments, care, public spaces.
- Integration of color in architectural, functional and technical planning processes.
Implementation & quality assurance
- Support for planning and construction processes – from the design phase to realization.
- Coordination with architecture, interior design, lighting design and executing trades.
- Definition of precise color and material systems as well as quality standards for implementation.
- Ensuring the conceptual effect in the built space – even under real lighting and usage conditions.
Your added value
Wrong decisions in color and lighting design lead to disorientation, stress, inefficient processes and avoidable follow-up costs – especially in sensitive areas such as healthcare buildings, education and working environments.
Evidence-based color concepts create spaces that work: They improve orientation, reduce stress, promote well-being and sustainably increase the quality of use.
