Brief profile

Prof. Dr. Axel Buether is a leading expert in evidence-based color psychology in German-speaking countries and is internationally recognized. As Professor of Didactics of Visual Communication at the University of Wuppertal and Director of the Institute for Evidence-Based Color Psychology, he researches the effect of color and light on human experience, behavior and health – in real life and work contexts, not in the laboratory. His Spiegel bestseller “Die geheimnisvolle Macht der Farben” (Droemer, 2020) and the new standard work “Das große Buch der Farbpsychologie” (Droemer, 2025) have made the subject accessible to a wide audience. Buether is a regular guest on ARD, ZDF, arte, Deutschlandfunk and the major print media.
