hr2 Doppelkopf: At the Table with Axel Buether, Color Researcher
Clothing, rooms, products, works of art—colors play a role everywhere. People perceive them differently depending on the context. A deep red can appear sensual and powerful in a glamorous setting, but tend to be unsettling in a hospital.
Axel Buether can explain why this is the case. The color expert is a professor of visual communication pedagogy at the University of Wuppertal; he studied architecture, is a psychologist specializing in perception, and founded the Institute for Evidence-Based Color Psychology. The colors that surround us reflect our personalities—Buether demonstrates this with the help of a test. This means that the character of others can also be discerned based on their choice of colors. He himself sometimes wears a sky-blue velvet suit with a curry-colored shirt. What does that say about him? At the very least, he certainly doesn’t lack self-confidence.
