Color as a Design Tool: An Introduction to Evidence-Based Color Psychology
In my lecture on “Color in Architecture,” we will explore the biological and cultural functions of color and then learn how these insights can be applied to the development of evidence-based color concepts in order to design user-centered and appealing architectural spaces.
Colors influence our perception of space and our emotional state; they affect our well-being, health, performance, and motivation to act. You will learn how cultural contexts and historical developments shape our perception of color and what psychological mechanisms underlie this.
Using real-world examples, I’ll show you how these principles can be applied in practice to create spaces that meet the specific needs of their users. Through case studies and current research projects, we’ll explore how evidence-based color concepts can contribute to a better quality of life and work.
