Our sense of space comes through our senses, which are constantly responding to our surroundings. As a result, our perception has always been our key to the world. Now that the world is changing rapidly, how do we perceive these changes? If the built environment can be expanded through virtual worlds—what experiences will we have in which worlds? And if our new work tools now interact directly with our sensory organs, allowing us to intentionally focus our ears and eyes—what new spaces of perception will this open up for us?
Prof. Axel Buether, who conducts research on visual perception and the impact of space on people, will address the theories and questions raised by futurist Birgit Gebhardt and show us how complex and sophisticated our perception is, as well as where the physical office still needs to catch up in terms of what it offers for our learning and experiences.
