Atmosphere plays a central role in architecture. The way in which architecture can have an effect on this level ranges from a feeling of well-being to a sense of grandeur. Since Hartmut Seels and Gernot Böhme’s important publications on “atmosphere”, the significance of the atmospheric for architectural space has become firmly established. Not only in practical architectural design, but also on a theoretical level, thinking about the creation and effect of atmosphere in space is an important tool for architects.
